Alyssa Maitoza; B.A. Musical Theatre, B.A. Dance, summa cum laude…

I am a graduate of Rhode Island College in the lovely city of Providence, Rhode Island, where I earned my two degrees. At graduation, I received the Rhode Island College Theatre Award and Presidential honors. During my time at RIC, some of my favorite roles included Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Linda in Evil Dead the Musical, Hennie in Awake and Sing, the original cast of End It: Modern Day Slavery; and the ensemble of The Rocky Horror Show. I was also a finalist for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship as well as their Richard Maltby Musical Theatre Award, President of the RIC Musical Theatre Company and the Student Theatre Organization, and a proud member of the RIC Dance Company.

My Story (Spark Notes)…

Alyssa, circa 2008. Just really happy to be on stage!

I grew up in the small town of Dartmouth, Massachusetts in a very musical family. Thanks to a childhood of watching my grandfather travel New England in a successful band, attending family parties where we’d write music, play instruments, dance, and sing, and having access to community children’s theatre, dance lessons, and volunteer-based singing troupes – I have been surrounded by the arts since before I can remember. All I ever wanted was a life of performing, and here I am doing the thing! I feel extremely fortunate now more than ever to be pursuing my dreams.

What I’m up to now…

I’m about to embark on my third contract with Norwegian Cruise Lines as a production cast vocalist! Traveling and performing is truly the best of both worlds.

While I’m on land in between contracts, I enjoy teaching dance and theatre across Massachusetts.

I have spent three summers working for New Bedford Festival Theatre performing in Mamma Mia!, The Best of Times, Beauty and the Beast (where I made my #SwingNation debut!), and West Side Story where I was thrilled to learn and perform the original Jerome Robbins choreography.
